Dear parent/guardian,

The No Child Left Behind Act requires that we share with you the results of our district's progress in meeting the Title III Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs) for English Language Learners. Districts are evaluated annually on three objectives:
1. The percentage of students who make progress in learning English.

2. The percentage of students who become proficient in English.

3. Adequate yearly progress (AYP) for English Language Learners. AYP is based on student test participation, graduation, attendance, and achievement in reading and math.
Title III funded districts must meet all three objectives in order to meet the Title III AMAOs. During the 2008-2009 school year, J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 did not meet the state-set targets for AMAOs for English Language Learners. You may view the district's AMAO data at: http://www.isbe.net/bilingual/htmls/titleIII.htm as well as view the school report card on our website: www.jsmortonhs.com.

Our district welcomes your ideas about improving the quality of education for our children. If you would like more information on our district's performance, please contact Matthew Haug, Assistant Principal and Assessment Coordinator, at 708.222.5900.

Sincerely,

Dr. Victoria Parkinson
Assistant Superintendent
District 201

Estimado padre/tutor legal,

Atentamente,

Dr. Victoria Parkinson
Superintendente asistente
