MORTON HIGH SCHOOL AND MORTON COLLEGE ANNOUNCE DUAL CREDITJ. Sterling Morton High School and Morton Community College have signed an agreement which will allow high school students to receive college credit while enrolled in high school classes. The program called the Dual Credit program allows eligible high school students to receive college credit without cost. Beginning with current registration for the 2007-2008 school year students have the opportunity to register for specific elective classes at J. Sterling Morton High School. If students register for Morton College Credit while enrolling in these classes and successfully complete any of the classes, college credit will be awarded. Elective classes currently eligible for dual credit enrollment are Architecture, Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD) Computer Applications and Early Childhood. The school district and college are working together to add more courses to this list of Dual Credit offerings. Dr. Anne Cothran, Director of Career and Technical Education said "the majority of high growth, high wage jobs require education beyond high school. Today's jobs require knowledge and skills learned in college courses, technical schools, internships, apprenticeships, or other worksite experiences". Education after high school requires tuition. Dual credit courses for Morton High School students at Morton College are tuition FREE and that is great for students!
