| Morton East Seniors Take 2nd Place at ICTM Competition |
Morton East High School seniors Steven Carreno and Jose Garcia were awarded second place at the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Math Competition held on Saturday, February 21, at Concordia University in River Forest.
The prize was for the “Oral Competition” area, in which students are given ten minutes to solve three mathematics problems based on real life math applications and then present their solutions to the judges. Competing schools in the Regional were Oak Park and River Forest High School, Lyons Township High School and Hinsdale Central High School.
This is the Morton East's highest placement at the ICTM Regionals in nearly twenty years.
