| Morton 201 Board of Education honors Morton Mustang Basketball Team's Proviso West Tournament Victory |
At the regular meeting of the Morton High School District 201 Board of Education on Wednesday, January 14th, the members of the board honored the recent Proviso West Holiday Tournament Championship title captured by the Morton Mustangs Boys Basketball team.
One day after knocking off No. 1 seed Whitney Young, the Mustangs defeated tournament host Proviso West 65-59 to capture their first Proviso West Tournament title in 46 years. The Mustangs' Luke Scarlata was named tournament MVP and five Mustangs were named to the All-Tournament Team: Luke Scarlata (first team), Raul Guzman (first team), Proviso West's Robert Covington (first team) and Tremel Owens (first team) and Joe Belcaster (second team).
